dk Sugarboo Bralette (Lite) Knitting Pattern
Digital Download in English
Dk Sugarboo Bralette is a spin-off of the original version which is made using aran weight yarn. Dk version of the Sugarboo Bralette is very delicate, extremely soft and comfortable to wear close to the skin. Perfect for wearing under garments and cardigans in the winter. It is constructed from the top down giving it an advantage for adjusting the length of the body and straps so it fits your body just the way you like it. Stockinette stitch is used for the main part of the pattern and lifted increases are used in combination of stitches to create the almost perfect edging around front cups and back triangles. Please read the pattern all the way through before you begin.
Sizes
Bust circumference of the finished bralette
XXXS 55, (XXS 60), XS 66, (S 70), M 79, (L 86), XL 94, (2XL 104), 3XL 115, (4XL 124), 5XL 135 cm.
Approximately XXXS 21½”, (XXS 23½”), XS 26”, (S 27½”), M 31”, (L 34”), XL 37”, (2XL 41”), 3XL 45”, (4XL 49”), 5XL 53”.
Choosing a size
Please keep in mind that this is a knit garment and it will not provide the support similar to a regular bra, especially if you are blessed with a larger bosom. To choose a size, measure your bust circumference, then subtract the amount of negative ease suggested for your size below, choose a size that is closest to the number you got.
Sizes XXXS to M (66 - 96.5 cm / 26”- 38” bust)
For a fitted bralette choose a size that is 10 - 15 cm / 4” – 6” less than your actual bust circumference. For example, if your actual bust circumference is 93 cm / 36½”, you should knit a size M 79 cm / M 31”.
Sizes L to 2XL (101.5 - 127 cm / 40”- 50” bust)
For a fitted bralette choose a size that is 15 - 20 cm / 6” – 8” less than your actual bust circumference. For example, if your actual bust circumference is 113 cm / 44½”, you should knit a size XL 94 cm / XL 37”.
Sizes 3XL to 5XL (132 - 157.5 cm / 52”- 62” bust)
For a fitted bralette choose a size that is 25 - 35 cm / 10” – 14” less than your actual bust circumference. For example, if your actual bust circumference is 133 cm / 52½”, you should knit a size 2XL 104 cm / 2XL 41”.
If you are petite in bust, but have broader shoulders, sizing up might provide a better fit.
Gauge
For the main body 21 stitches by 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4” x 4” using size US 6 / 4.00 mm needles in stockinette stitch after washing and blocking.
For the ribbing aim for 28 to 32 stitches using size US 3 / 3.25 mm needles in rib stitch after washing and blocking.
If you obtain gauge for the main body with a different size needle, needle size for the ribbing should be about one millimeter (two US sizes) smaller than the main body.
Gauge is important, you will need to check it periodically as knitters tend to knit differently when knitting flat and knitting in the round.
Suggested Yarn
Sugarboo Bralette is worked using dk weight yarn, you will need approximately 50, (50), 50, (75), 75, (75), 100, (100), 100, (125), 125 grams of Cardiff Cashmere “Classic” cashmere (6ply), 25 grams = 112 meters / 122 yards.
Suggested needles
US 6 / 4.00 mm 16”- 32” / 41 - 81cm circular knitting needles or needles to obtain gauge, for the main body +
US 3 / 3.25 mm 16” - 24” / 41 - 61 cm circular knitting needles for the ribbing +
US 3 / 3.25 mm double pointed needles for the i-cord straps.
Other materials and notions
One stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Scrap yarn or stitch holders
Elastic sewing thread, I highly suggest using this thread because ribbing will stretch after use.
